Devdiwali is not an event you host so much as one you join. A thousand diyas were set along the parapet through the afternoon, lit in sequence as the light went, and the first guests arrived to a building already glowing.
The thali ran to seventeen preparations, cooked from the festival calendar rather than the regular menu — kaddu, nimona, laung-lata, and malaiyo finished in copper just before service.
Folk singers took the courtyard at nine and stayed until the last guest left. Nobody asked them to stop.
